Strategic Choices for Education Reform is a two-week seminar that focuses on giving countries the tools to improve the quality, efficiency, and sustainability of education provision. The course features a combination of

A practical and comprehensive understanding of the realities, goals, and policy strategies for reforming the education
system , and the conditions necessary to initiate and sustain reform initiatives; - A thorough knowledge of the broad range of options available to policymakers for improving quality, efficiency, equity, and sustainability of basic education.
- The skills necessary to analyze existing policies and formulate new policies that promote improvements in quality and efficiency of basic education provision as a necessary condition for addressing access and quality at other levels of education.
This course is designed for senior officials and technical staff from public and private sectors as well as bilateral and multilateral government organizations and non-governmental organizations that are involved in the design and implementation of education policy.
The deadline for registration is February 21, 2011.
The course will take a sector-wide approach to address a wide range of issues in education reform, including:
- Effective strategies to improve educational quality, efficiency, and equity in the context of Education for All (EFA);
- Learning for all, including early childhood education and skills training for employability;
- Public-private partnerships and the knowledge economy;
- Instruments and tools for education policy analysis;
- Political economy and stakeholder analysis;
- Economics and financing of education;
- Measurement and indicators to assess impact and learning;
- Preparation and management of sector-wide education reform; and
- Incentives and information to enhance accountability and efficiency.
