ICE 2011: Design Research in Education - Empowering Teachers, Learners and Researchers

Design-based research in education studies the effect of designed intervention on practice. The focus in design-based research is on the interaction between resources, learners and teachers in natural situations. The results can be used to develop designs, to refine the theories of learning from which they derive, and to empower teachers, learners and researchers. The focus of design research on enactment, as outcome, distinguishes design-based research from other forms of research into the effect of educational interventions.
