Public Private Partnerships for Quality in School Education

The past few years have seen focus in Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in the education sector. Some of the most relevant trends discussed have been increase in enrolments, improved learning outcomes, and decreased costs. However, a formal policy and an accompanying legal framework for PPP in education are yet to be realised. To date, policies for PPPs that have been triggered by the Planning Commission and the Ministry of Human Resource Development have not been matched by adequate institutional and human resources. In the light of the Right to Education Act, there is need for a platform to discuss the impact and contribution of PPPs in education.
