Analyzing the state of schooling and basic learning in India
ASER 2008’s rapid assessment survey aimed to get reliable estimates of the status of children’s schooling and basic learning at the district level. It also sought to measure the change in these basic learning and school statistics over that in 2007. This report presents the complete findings of ASER 2008.

- Gathering district level estimates;
- Conducting the survey in the village, hamlet and household;
- Sampling households in hamlets;
- Testing the tools for the survey;
- Applying the testing tools.
