The Kenyan Government has ordered an inquiry into unethical practices used by private schools to post good results in national examinations. Education minister Sam Ongeri said some private schools were poaching bright pupils from public schools and registering them for examinations in their centers ostensibly to have them ranked among top performers nationally.

There has been debate in recent weeks that public schools will lose out in the Form One selection to national schools. It is proposed that the quota selection to national schools be reviewed to ensure that public schools, which performed poorly, also send candidates to national schools.
