Mexico: Private Schools Doing Well Despite Slowdown

When it comes to weathering the economy, New Mexico is doing better than many states across the country. The same is true when it comes to education as well. In spite of their cost, private schools are doing much better here than their counterparts across the country.

While public schools are bracing for the worst in more budget cuts private schools are doing surprisingly well. "In 2008, when things started to happen, everybody held their breath, it seemed. Inquiries and visits and calls just went silent," says Sunset Mesa's Alan Mask. But in the end, enrollment within the student body shrank by a modest 2%.
